Ustronie Morskie Attractions

In Ustronie Morskie, the town centre, the beach, the piers (there are two of them!), the promenade, the fishing harbour and even the local museums are all within walking distance of one another (even with small children). A walk from one end of the town to the other will take about an hour - unless you stop at all the popular tourist attractions. There are plenty of them in Ustronie Morskie.

You can also plan an active outdoor holiday. It’s certainly worth setting aside time for strolls along the beach in Ustronie Morskie and through the coastal forest. In addition, popular cycle routes run through the town, allowing you to reach neighbouring towns - turn left towards Kolobrzeg or right towards Mielno.

What is there to do in Ustronie Morskie? If you make a note of the places listed below, you’ll have a ready-made holiday plan. You can visit the most interesting spots in 1–2 days and then spend the rest of your time simply sunbathing on the beach, or you can choose to take your time exploring local traditions and plan to tick off the attractions on your list over the course of a few days’ holiday.

The Pier and the Seaside Promenade

There are two piers in Ustronie Morskie. The first (for anglers) is located by the fishing harbour, whilst the second (longer and more touristy) is by the 6th beach access point. From both, you can see the distinctive cliff-lined coastline of this part of the Polish coast. It’s worth continuing your walk by the sea along the seaside promenade, which runs the length of the town.

Fishing Harbour

Head towards Rybacka Street. As you might guess, you’ll end up at the harbour. Don’t expect an ordinary harbour, though – the fishermen launch their boats directly from the beach and, after a catch, haul them onto the sand using a rope winch. The fishing boats are moored just a few metres away from passers-by.

The Bread Open-Air Museum

The interior of the open-air museum resembles a 19th-century bakery. Here you can see a 130-year-old bread oven, querns, butter churns and old slicers, as well as take part in workshops. Make a note of this place as an interesting attraction for children – you won’t find anything like it in Ustronie Morskie or the immediate vicinity!

Remains of the 31st Fixed Artillery Battery

Fancy visiting some less typical tourist spots? Take a walk into the woods towards Wieniotowo and look for the remains of a former military complex. In 1954, naval guns, shelters for soldiers and ammunition depots were installed there. The battery was intended to defend the approach to the port of Kolobrzeg from the sea. Today, reinforced concrete structures still stand amongst the trees.

Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Finally, one more historic site – more of a historical and architectural attraction for adults. In Ustronie Morskie, on Wojska Polskiego Street, you’ll find a neo-Gothic church built of red brick. The first, much smaller church was erected in 1885. A hundred years later, it was rebuilt and enlarged. The oldest part is situated by the chancel. You’ll recognise it by the different shade of the bricks. Inside the church, it’s worth taking a look at the wooden vaulted ceiling and the high altar.

Gibon Rope Park

If your child enjoys being active and isn’t afraid of heights, take them to Gibon Rope Park. The park has 9 standard courses and 2 training courses. Simpler sections have been set up for the little ones. Older children can tackle more challenging obstacles high above the ground.

Helios Water Park

Is the Baltic Sea a bit too chilly? An alternative attraction for children in Ustronie Morskie is the Helios Water Park. Inside, you can enjoy swimming pools, water slides and a jacuzzi. During the summer season, the outdoor area is also open. In addition to the water zone, the complex also features a bowling alley.

Western Park

At Western Park, the little ones can leave typical seaside attractions behind for a while and enjoy Wild West-themed fun. Parents won’t be bored either – Western Park Amusement Park is an attraction for the whole family! Pop into a teepee, learn to shoot a bow and arrow, and take part in themed games.

The Lighthouse at Gaski

The most ‘Baltic’ attraction in the vicinity of Ustronie Morskie is the lighthouse in Gaski. At the top of the brick tower, which stands over 50 metres tall, there is a viewing point from which you can see a panorama stretching as far as Sarbinowo, Chłopy and Mielno.

Hortulus Gardens in Dobrzyca

The Hortulus Gardens in Dobrzyca consist of two separate sites about 2 km apart – look for ‘Hortulus Thematic Gardens’ and ‘Hortulus Spectabilis Gardens’ on the map.

• In the first, you’ll find as many as 28 gardens designed in various styles – this is more of a place for adults and those looking for a peaceful stroll.
• In the second, you’ll walk through a one-hectare hornbeam maze (advertised as the largest in the world) and climb up to the viewing tower – a more family-friendly option.

The Oldest Oaks in Bagicz

On the blue trail through the Kołobrzeg Forest lies Bolesław – an oak estimated to be 800 years old. In 2016, the tree was felled by a storm, but the trail still runs past its stump. About 2 km further on stands the 640-year-old Warcisław. The forest section leading towards the natural monuments offers a quieter alternative to the seaside promenade.

Pomerania Fun Park

At Pomerania Fun Park, you can enjoy several play areas. In the large indoor hall, children can climb, slide and tackle obstacle courses. Outside, there are inflatable play structures, carousels, a tubing slide, a mini zoo and the Viking Village. In summer, the water park with swimming pools and slides is also open.

A Boat Trip on the Baltic Sea

You cannot set sail on the Baltic Sea from Ustronie Morskie itself. To enjoy this sort of attraction, you’ll need to travel to Kolobrzeg. At the port there, you can buy a ticket for a trip on a cruise ship or a fishing boat.

By booking holiday accommodation in a smaller town, you’re consciously choosing to do without the ‘charms’ of a seaside resort holiday.
